Baby Skin Care Problems ?

For every woman, there?s no greater joy than giving birth to a baby. A mother will go to any lengths to keep the baby happy and healthy. Baby skin care and hygiene is a major concern that new mothers face. Baby?s skin is extremely sensitive and delicate and one needs to take extreme care. One cannot use too many cosmetic products on infants. However for baby skin care, one needs to use soap, shampoo, creams, lotions and oils.

Infant skin care range of products need to be mild and are mostly made out of natural ingredients. Most pediatricians recommend avoiding usage of anti-bacterial soaps on babies. A mild soap made out of olive, coconut, palm oil using herbal extracts is a safer option. After applying soap, the mother can use a soothing oil or lotion containing coconut or sesame oil. To preparegood massage oil, stir one cup of dried calendula petals and leaves with some extra virgin olive oil in a glass jar and allow it to steep in the jar for a fortnight. The glass jar must beshut tightly. Stir the blend every day and after a fortnight, filter the leaves or petals out with the help of a clean muslin cloth and shift the calendula oil to easy-to-carry sterilized glass vessels.

Infants? sensitive skin is always prone to skin irritation caused by the ready-made wipes. To make baby wipes at home, mix 1/4 cup of baby or olive oil with 2 cups of water and 1/4 cup baby shampoo. Take soft paper towels; dip the mixture on the towel and use as natural wipes. Freshly squeezed aloe vera juice or gel is one of the safest and best home remedy for skin problems. Mothers should keep an aloe vera plant in the kitchen garden, so that one can use aloe vera as when required.

To make a homemade body wash, grind 1 cup of plain oatmeal and then add 2 cups of water and ¼ cup of baby shampoo. Add it to running water and stir with your hand to get the oatmeal powder to dissolve in the bath water. This also helps relieving itching and diaper rash. One can make a home-made skin balm by mixing half cup of sweet almond oil, few drops of essential tea tree oil, a couple of drops of essential lavender oil and a little water. Blend all the ingredients and apply on baby when needed.

Natural skin care recipes for baby skin care are very popular with the older generation of women. They rely more on natural ingredients than chemical based products available in the market. All baby skin care problems like dryness, rashes and redness have a solution in natural substances.
